A Little About Me
Hello, my name is DonnaMarie Hedrick, I’m a mixed media artist residing on the Central Coast in California.
I’ve been an artist my entire adult life. I began with arts and crafts with mixed media, as an outlet after the kids were born in the 80’s. I then went into woodworking and tole painting, and I found a passion in creating a variety of arts.
Before we knew it I had started a home based business and began selling my work at the local festivals up and down the central coast. I sold my art for decades, loving every minute.
Then one day “life happened” My health began to change, after several months I noticed I wasn’t going into my studio anymore, I had no desire to even walk in there, it vanished without me realizing.
The years began passing bye, so one day I decided it was time to empty the studio and close the business. I took everything down to the local senior center to donate it. Two truck loads later, I left there with so much gratitude in my heart, watching the residents’ faces light up as the boxes were unpacked.
Fast forward many years later. I discovered polymer clay and my life has FOREVER changed. I had to learn as much as I could about this fascinating art medium. I jumped right in and began my claying journey learning about complex caning techniques, with all of the fine intricate details.
I was instantly captivated and became obsessed with making cane after cane, polymer clay was even invading my dreams! I had found my PASSION to create once again!
To further my knowledge I began taking workshops from some of the artists I had come to admire. Over a decade later I’m still attending classes on a regular basis, always eager to learn new techniques.
Claying has added a whole new exciting final chapter to my life.
My husband Rick is now retired and we’re having a wonderful time doing more shows and festivals. We always enjoy talking to people and meeting our customers in person.
We enjoy going to concerts as much as possible, there’s nothing like live music. I’m even teaching myself to play the guitar, 🎸
I’ve always said that it’s never to late to learn and explore new things, it just may take me longer to remember.
Usually, I can be found hanging out at home enjoying all of the little things in life that I treasure. My family is my balance in life, my Serenity.❤️
